Nune (Nino)
Nune (Nino) (280-335), enlightener of Georgia. Originally from the Cappadocian city of Colastra; From the age of 12 she lived in Jerusalem. She was sent to preach the Gospel to Iberia the Most Holy Theotokos, who appeared to her in a dream and left a cross from a vine. On the way to Georgia, St. Nune miraculously escaped the martyrdom at the hands of the Armenian king Trdat III, who suffered from her companions St. Gayane, St. Hripsime and 35 virgins who fled from Rome to Armenia from persecution of Diocletian. Having arrived in Georgia, the capital Mtskheta, she continues to live a righteous prayer life, preaching and turning people to faith.
