Haghpat Church: A Pearl of Armenian Medieval Architecture The Haghpat Monastery Complex (Armenian: Հաղպատ) is an outstanding monument of Armenian architecture from the 10th to 13th centuries, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List (2000). It is located in the village of the same name in Armenia's Lori Province, in the picturesque valley of the Debed River, on a high plateau surrounded by mountain ranges. Haghpat is: an example of Armenian medieval architecture with a harmonious blend of volumes and decoration; a center of spiritual enlightenment and literary culture; a monument to the unbroken tradition of stone architecture and monumental painting; a place of pilgrimage and tourism where one can sense the connection between times.
